The Concept: A homecoming!

In just one week, The Concept will return to Norway for the first time since George Russell moved back to the U.S. in the late 1960s. Russell lived in Scandinavia for four years, deeply inspiring the music scene while also drawing great inspiration from it. He later described this period as a time when he felt fully accepted as an artist and was profoundly moved by how people here resonated with his ideas.

Andy Wasserman, Russell’s close friend and collaborator for over 30 years, has dedicated his life to passing on The Lydian Chromatic Concept as Russell intended, ensuring that new generations of musicians learn it in its purest form.

At the end of the month, Andy will visit Oslo for a week, taking part in various events at the Academy of Music, Nasjonal Jazzscene Victoria, and in private settings. He will also give several interviews. It is a great honor for me to welcome him here and to work alongside him throughout these activities.

Key events:

Sunday, March 23 & Monday, March 24 – Exclusive two-day workshop, Urban Sound Studios, Oslo.
