Kongsberg Jazzfestival has awarded piano player Helge Lien with the DnBNor Musicians Award.

Kongsberg Jazzfestival has since 1996 given this award to one outstanding Norwegian musician. The price is provided by the Norwegian bank DnBNor and has a value of NOK 100.000 (approx 20.000 USD). The musician gets half the prize money at once, the rest is to be used for a prize winner’s concert at the 2009 festival.

This year the jury chose piano player and composer Helge Lien. He has released five widely acclaimed albums with his own trio, has worked the past years with singer Silje Nergaard and has also composed music for a tv series at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation – NRK.

Helge Lien is also recognized abroad. He has a wide Japanese audience, and will this fall tour in major European cities.
